Tiger Woods Financial Fallout

Its been 2 weeks since Tiger Woods drove his Cadillac Escalade into a tree.  Woods’s involvement with another woman was immediately suspected by the National Enquirer and other tabloids.  Then, a flock of women including porn stars, madams, and some Tiger met at nightclubs claim of sexual encounters with the golfer.

Now on Woods’ website Friday night, Dec. 11, 2009, Woods announced that he is taking an ” indefinite break” from professional golf in order to repair his marriage.  As you may have already known, with every superstar scandal, there will be financial lost, complications and nervous sponsors.

So far he has paid his $164 traffic fine for reckless driving and all ads featuring Tiger Woods have been pulled from the Golf Channel.

*AT&T dumps Tiger hours before the New Year
AT&T Inc. said Thursday December 31, 2009, it would no longer sponsor Tiger Woods who’s taking a break from the golf to focus on his marriage after his admitted infidelity.

Tag Heuer drops Tiger
Friday December 18, 2009, Tag Heuer has finally decided to drop pitchman Tiger Woods from their advertisement campaigns in the United States. The Swiss watchmaker CEO Jean-Christophe Babin released a statement to Swiss daily Le Matin saying “We recognize Tiger Woods as a great sportsman but we have to take account of the sensitivity of some consumers in relation to recent events”.

Accenture Discontinues sponsorship agreement with Tiger Woods.
On Sunday December 13, 2009, Accenture announced that it will not continue its sponsorship agreement with Tiger Woods. The company states on its website “he is no longer the right representative for its advertising”.

Gatorade Dumped Tiger

December 8, 2009, Pepsi Co Gatorade announced it will pull away from plans to launch a new drink featuring Tiger Woods.

Gillette to limit Woods’ role in its marketing

On Saturday December 12, 2009,  Gillette a Procter & Gamble division, said “As Tiger takes a break from the public eye, we will support his desire for privacy by limiting his role in our marketing programs”.  We’re not sure of the financial implications of that deal yet.

Nike grants “Full Support” to Tiger and Family

“Tiger has been part of Nike for more than a decade.  He is the best golfer in the world and one of the greatest athletes of his era. We look forward to his return to golf”. – Usmagazine.com
